Drawing from thousands of years of clinical practice, the Chinese herbal medicine tradition has been carefully passed down through generations of practitioners, preserving the ancient, sage-like way of healing while also staying flexible to adapt as the world changes.
Food is regarded as the "superior medicine" in Chinese Medicine, showcasing the powerful ability of food to serve as preventative medicine as well as treat complex medical issues. Often food is prescribed as a first course of action in treating disease. The "food as medicine" approach is a gradual path towards internal balance, and invites one to transform their lifestyle in accordance with their health goals.
Medicine is not limited to things we take internally like herbs or food treatments. The way we sit, stand, walk, and sleep all contribute greatly to our body's health or lack thereof. Lifestyle counseling in the context of Chinese medicine is incredibly broad, ranging from exercise (Tai-Chi and Qi-Gong) protocols, to how we structure our home life (Feng-Shui), to how we prepare and eat food and beverages. Sure, doctors are great, but there is no more powerful medicine than what we can do for ourselves to restore balance in our lives.
